TEENAGERS in Orange may soon have somewhere else to go in their spare time if plans to build more skate parks in Orange gain momentum.
At an Orange City Council budget meeting on Wednesday night councillor Glenn Taylor asked council to set aside funds to undertake a feasibility study into building one or more skate parks in various locations throughout the city.
“We need a study to identify the right spots where the kids are ... over generations demographics change,” he said.
“I think the eastern side of Orange is crying out for a facility like this, the current skate park [in Anson Street] has been overwhelmingly successful.”
Cr Taylor recommended looking at sites in Glenroi, Bowen and possibly north Orange.
“I think it would be a fantastic thing to do, and I’ll be trying to get council support for that,” he said.
Cr Taylor said he’d rally support to ensure council had adequate funds to commit to building at least one additional skate park.
