Somebody must know who mutilated joey

SOMEONE in Orange knows exactly what happened to a joey found mutilated on Thursday RSPCA chief inspector David OShannessy says.

Orange police have had no contact from the public despite a plea for information following the discovery of the joey, who had its tail hacked off and one leg severely lacerated.

“I hope someone out there who knows something has a change of conscience and comes forward,” Mr OShannessy said.

“Even someone who thinks they may have seen someone could help in our investigation,” he said.

The joey, believed to be about six months old, was found by students and a teacher at the school just after 9am on Thursday morning near the school’s agricultural plot.

The joey was seen struggling to get out of a dam and was found to have horrific injuries.

It is believed the joey sustained the injuries days prior to being found and had endured agony for some time. The police number is 6363 6399.

Anyone who wishes to remain anonymous can call the police hotline on 1800 333 000 or call the RSPCA on 1300 278 3589.
