Shoppers ring the bell on fighting boys

Concerned shoppers called police after witnessing two teenage boys fighting each other in Post Office Lane, Orange Local Court has heard.

A 16-year-old boy was fined $100 for his role in the fight and convicted of behaving offensively in a public place.

The teenager and another boy approached each other in Post Office Lane at about 4.15pm on December 8.

The offender invited the other boy to fight him.

He initially refused but then decided to fight.

The juvenile took off his shirt and the two started throwing punches at each other.

A group of teenagers gathered around to watch the fight, while police received several phone calls from members of the public concerned about it.

The juvenile ran away through the Big W car park when police arrived.

Both were cautioned under the Young Offenders Act but failed to attend the police station to receive their cautions.
