Banned driver caught behind the wheel

A 29-year-old man was already disqualified from driving until 2017 when he was caught driving with an unrestrained baby and child in the car, Orange Local Court has heard.

James David Dennis, of South Terrace, was fined a total of $1000 and disqualified from driving for a further two years as a result of the offences.

Police followed the car Dennis was driving in South Terrace on the night of March 1, stopping him near the intersection of Lone Pine Avenue and Adina Crescent.

There was a woman in the back seat holding an unrestrained baby and another young child in the rear of the car without a proper restraint.

Dennis admitted he did not have a licence.

He had previously been disqualified from holding a licence for a number of offences, including dangerous driving.

Solicitor Rayna Pettet said her client had been undergoing rehabilitation to try and get his life back on track.
