ORANGE’S new water bottle filling station will open today ensuring visitors to FOOD Week will be among the first to try it.
The filtered water station, funded by Orange City Council, will allow people to access both a bubbler and water bottle refilling-station from the same site outside the post office in Summer Street.
Councillor Reg Kidd said carrying a bottle of water is a habit many Australians have picked up.
“There’s understandable concern in the community about the huge waste involved in buying single-use bottles,” he said.
“It’s great that we can have a convenient location in the centre of Orange where bottles can be filled.
“It’s another sign to visitors that Orange is a progressive, welcoming city.” The station cost $8,000 to purchase and install.
