Taylor pumps up Carr’s tyers

COUNCILLOR Glenn Taylor says Orange residents should feel proud of their connection to the newly-appointed Foreign Minister Bob Carr who contributed so much to the city during his time as state premier.

Mr Taylor said Mr Carr could take credit for ensuring Orange secured funding for developments such as the new hospital, the new police station and the distributor road.

“The projects were locked in by the government during his time as premier,” Mr Taylor said.

“He was a great friend to the city of Orange and I know that he loved the city.”

Mr Taylor said he’d worked closely with Mr Carr when he was a state Labor candidate in 2003.

“He gave me an unbelievable amount of support,” Mr Taylor said.

“He was also very supportive of the city of Orange.”

Mr Taylor said the appointment of Mr Carr to one of the federal government’s key positions was a smart move for the Labor party.

“He’s a wonderful choice,” he said. “I know him really well and he’s passionate about overseas relations and I couldn’t think of anyone better for the job.

“I think he’ll bring stability to the federal government which is a good thing.”

Mr Taylor said he had already expressed his happiness at Mr Carr’s appointment to the duty senator for Calare Matt Thistlethwaite and he hoped he would pass on his congratulations.
