HELEN Scott-Orr admits she was “very surprised” to learn she was being awarded a Public Service Medal for the contribution she’s made to vet science, animal disease control and agricultural research management.

“It’s very humbling because there are a lot of good people who do a lot of good work,” she said.
Having most recently worked for Industry and Investment NSW, Ms Scott-Orr retired from full-time work in July last year although she was recently contracted back to the department.
“I’m now working on disease control in Indonesia trying to eradicate rabies which was introduced there a year ago,” she said.
“Traditionally, Bali has been free of the disease.
“I’ll be helping the Indonesians develop systems to help eradicate the disease.”
Ms Scott-Orr lives in Millthorpe.
