ORANGE children were among the lucky few to meet the members of Hi-5 when the group came to town yesterday.
While the group has performed more than 36 shows in 18 cities over the past five weeks, Orange was one of only five cities lucky enough to host an autograph signing with Nathan, Casey, Kelly, Stevie and Sun in Kmart yesterday afternoon.
Hundreds of star-struck toddlers and their parents queued to meet the children’s entertainers, buy merchandise, get autographs, receive balloons and have their photo taken with their idols.
Earlier, the fab five performed two sold-out shows at Orange Ex-Services Club, with parents and children lining up for the opportunity to sing and dance to popular songs such as the Action Hero Song, Little Bear, It’s a Party, the Sharing Song and Driving, Jumping and Lifting.
Tour manager Dave Wilkinson said the Party Street tour has covered regional Queensland and NSW.
“They’ve performed to more than 25,000 people in five weeks,” he said.
“Orange was particularly good, especially being the last day of the school holidays.”
Mr Wilkinson said the group’s popularity stems from the way they relate to children in the show.
“Children love the bright colours, the songs and the dances,” he said.
Hi-5 performs in Bathurst today and will finish the Party Street tour in Penrith on Wednesday.
