THE appeal to fund furnishing upgrades at Apex House, being co-ordinated by Cr Margaret Stevenson has raised $9000 but Cr Stevenson says there is still a long way to go.
"Our target to floor coverings and some other items is $40,000 and while people have been generous we really have to keep at it," Cr Stevenson said.
She said she hoped the many cricket fans in Orange would buy tickets in the first prize raffle of a cricket bat signed by Australian cricket captain Ricky Ponting.
"He's very popular and the staff of Franklins who organised the prize and framing have done a great job," she said.
Cr Stevenson put out a call several weeks ago to help raise money for Apex House, which she says is in urgent need of an upgrade, including the replacement of floor coverings.
Cr Dave Hackett has donated a three burner barbecue and $100 worth of meat, and Quality Building Supplies has donated a wheelbarrow full of groceries.
