THE Olympics are over but medal fever continued at Borenore Public School yesterday when a set of Olympic Medals was handed among the school’s 18 students.
The medals were presented to the Ophir Gold Committee last month by SOCOG.
Yesterday the medals were accompanied by Cabonne mayor John Farr, Cr Ron Fanning, Ophir Gold Committee member and Olympic volunteer Peter Veenstra and Ophir Gold Committee member Marianne MacSmith.
“Where did the gold come from?” Cr Farr asked the students
“From you,” boomed Cr Farr in response to answers including SOCOG, BHP and the government.
Peter Veenstra told the students his time as an Olympic volunteer driver was the best thing he had ever done.
“But this is really important as well - taking the medals around the schools,” he said.
