About 35 children were evacuated from a bus travelling from James Sheahan Catholic High School at 3.15pm on Tuesday.
It’s believed a passing motorist notified the bus driver that the bus was on fire near the corner of Summer and Clinton streets.
The bus was evacuated, with all children safe and sound, and the driver used a portable extinguisher to control the fire.

He then called Fire & Rescue NSW to ensure the fire was extinguished.
Firefighters mopped up at the scene and traffic cones were put in place.
The students walked to nearby Catherine McAuley Catholic Primary School to catch a connecting bus.
