The Rex Community Fare is available for advanced bookings of at least 30 days prior to departure.
It represents a saving of $56 over the current cheapest fare [$165] for the route.
Any seats remaining one day prior to departure will also be available at the Community Fare rate.
Rex has also announced five extra return services Monday-Friday.
Rex general manager network strategy and sales Warrick Lodge said Orange was only the seventh city to have the Community Fare out of its 60 destinations.
“Following the successful introduction of the Rex Community Fare scheme in Broken Hill, Moruya and Parkes in NSW, Albany and Esperance in WA and Burnie in Tasmania Rex is confident the Orange community will reap the same significant socio-economic benefits that these six other communities have experienced,” he said.
Mr Lodge said the airline had entered into a five-year deal with the council for the fare.
Mayor Reg Kidd said it would encourage growth.
“I’m pleased this new agreement will make air travel in and out of Orange more attractive to consumers,” he said.
“This deal gives Rex the means and a real incentive to grow its number of passengers while assuring the council of a stable income to operate the airport and giving air travellers access to a community fare, it’s a win-win.
“It’s encouraging for the future that the leadership of both Rex and council has been able to sit down together and reach this agreement.”
