Tech-nerds, tech-novices and the vast majority sitting somewhere in-between are invited to NSW Regional Technology Expo from June 22-24.
Under the theme ‘Embrace Today Explore Tomorrow’ the exhibition will focus on six areas including business, home, education, health, agriculture and automotive.
Speakers will address current issues including cyber security, cyber bullying and crypto currencies.
Orange City Council is partnering with Orange Daybreak Rotary to bring the inaugural show to town.
Rotary’s Murray Paterson said it’s going to be a big budget program with $70,000 already raised in sponsorship.
“My message to businesses is ‘if you want to get involved, you better get in quick’,” he said.
Mr Paterson said this week the principal of the school where award winning maths teacher Eddie Woo teaches indicated that Mr Woo might be available for a trip to Orange.
“If we get Eddie Woo we may need to look at the Civic Theatre because that would be the only venue in Orange big enough to hold the crowd.”
The exhibition is taking place at the Orange Function Centre, James Sheahan Catholic High School and Department of Primary Industries.
“We want to ensure that people can make the best use of technology to improve their lives now and in the future,” said Mr Paterson.
NSW Government-backed Jobs for NSW is supporting the event.
Acting CEO of Jobs for NSW Geoff White said he expects the event to bring together startups, students and businesses from the region.
“The first Regional Technology Expo will be a ground breaking initiative for the Central West providing a platform for the region’s brightest entrepreneurs and businesses.”
