The work is taking place about three kilometres east of Orange and involves replacing asphalt.
To reduce the impact on motorists, work will be carried out between 6pm and 6am, weather permitting.
The work commenced on Monday night and is scheduled to finish on Wednesday, April 11.
There will be changed traffic conditions on the stretch of road, including lane closures in place for the safety of workers and road users.
Motorists should plan their trip, allow extra travel time and follow the direction of traffic control and all signs, including a reduced speed limit of 40km/h during roadwork hours.
Roads and Maritime Services thank motorists for their patience during this resurfacing work.
