The mix of singles and families, as well as 20 members of the 2nd Orange Scout Group, started at the popular park and moved east along Blackmans Swamp Creek.
Another 12 registered for the Clifton Grove clean-up at the Mud Hut.
Organiser Roger Smith said the turnout was a far cry from three years ago, when no one registered for the main clean-up.
“It’s fantastic, it shows a bit of pride in the town,” he said.
Mr Smith was particularly happy with the number of participants given the Newcrest Challenge was being held on the same weekend.
“It will be interesting to see with the Return and Earn buyback scheme whether as many bottles and cans as we normally get,” he said.
“We’re focusing on Blackmans Swamp Creek as it goes down to Matthews Park, and the skate park is always a hot spot because people aren’t great at putting rubbish in the bins.”
