Callum John James Bates, 21, whose address was listed as Currong Crescent, reached speeds of between 75 km/h and 85 km/h in the 50km/h zone on Burrendong Way.
He then accelerated to between 95 km/h and 105km/h in the 70km/h zone on the Northern Distributor Road during the pursuit at 7.17pm on January 29, 2017.
The pursuit was terminated after two minutes.
Bates managed to evade police by turning left at the Molong Road roundabout, doing a u-turn and driving through a vacant block onto Turner Crescent, where police traced the car to an address but Bates got away.
A warrant was put out for his arrest when he failed to appear in court on related charges and police took him into custody on October 2 after stopping a car that he was a passenger in and identifying Bates.
On Monday in Orange Local Court, magistrate David Day sentenced Bates, who appeared via video link from custody, to time in jail.
“If he acts like a 21-year-old, not a 12-year-old, he might have some prospects, at the moment he’s a naughty boy,” Mr Day said.
Mr Day noted that Bates has spent about eight months in custody as an un-sentenced prisoner and took that time into account when issuing his sentences.
He will not be eligible for release until the end of the year on other matters, but for the police pursuit Bates was sentenced to a total of seven months jail from February 2 to September 16, 2018, with five months without parole until July 16.
For driving with a disqualified driver’s licence, Bates’ licence was disqualified for a further 12 months and he was given a two-year good-behaviour bond, which will come into effect after he is released from jail.
For driving more than 20 kilometres above the speed limit he was fined $550.
His solicitor Jane Murray said Bates was getting to a point where he could become institutionalised.
