The new system has been tested and fine-tuned in recent weeks and Tuesday’s council meeting is the first time the entire meeting is scheduled to been streamed.
Mayor Reg Kidd has welcomed the step as a boost for transparency.
“Anything that makes the council meetings more accessible to the community is a good thing,” Cr Kidd said.
“People often want to know what the council has decided about a particular topic, but can’t get to the Civic Centre at night to attend a meeting.
“This will let them hear the discussion first-hand.
“It’s a simple system that makes use of the existing microphones and PA.”
A single camera has been installed that delivers video coverage of the council members.
“Anyone who can watch YouTube on their PC or mobile phone, can tune in and watch the meeting,” Cr Kidd said.
“There’s more information, including how to watch the live stream, on the council website at www.orange.nsw.gov.au/livestream.”
The next full council meeting will be held on March 20.
