Students from Kinross Wolaroi School took to the stage while the Orange Rotary Club worked the barbeque at Rotary Brekky and Poetry in the Park for the Banjo Paterson Australian Poetry Festival.
Last year’s Banjo Paterson poetry competition winner, Amy Robinson from Orange Public School, read her entry for this year, Weekend Lessons, which is about learning to drive a battered old ute at her grandparents house.
Amy and her brother William Robinson were also invited to take part in a spontaneous performance with professional bush poetry performers Susan Carcary and Melanie Hall.
The duo are in town for the duration of the festival to judge Saturday’s poetry competition, perform at a number of events and run poetry workshops with school children.
Rotary Brekky and Poetry in the Park is taking place again on February 22, 23 and 24 from 7:30-9am.
In Friday's edition of the Central Western Daily the page 2 story said the Banjo Paterson Poetry Competition would be held on Saturday at the Orange Civic Theatre from 5.30pm-8.30pm. This is incorrect. It will run from 10am-5pm. We apologise for any confusion.
