One woman offered to bake, supermarkets sent in supplies of food, fast food outlets provided produce while firms and groups offered storage space for everything from animals to tractors.

When the fire emergency came to Orange the community responded with swift generosity.
Nashdale Hall became a co-ordination centre for supplies on Sunday morning.
Hall committee secretary and treasurer Sian Jacobs said she was amazed by the kindness shown.
On Monday volunteers were flat out at the hall preparing meals for firefighters at both the Mount Canobolas and Gowan area fires from all the donations.
Ms Jacobs said they had enough supplies for a day.
“We’ve got enough for today and possibly a bit of tomorrow,” she said on Monday.
“We’ve got seven or eight of those pallets of bread and we probably have another pallet load of sandwiches.
“We were overwhelmed, it’s just been amazing.
“I had a lady from Orange who rang to say ‘I can’t drive. I can bake for you if someone can pick it up’.
“People arrived with food, 12-packs of water, sandwiches they had made.”
Ms Jacobs said people rang from as far away as Bathurst offering to help.
The generous firms included Woolworths, Coles, IGA, Subway, the Little Green Truck, Small Acres Cyder, Pioneer Brewery, Happy Days Coffee and Food and more.
She said they had to call a halt to supplies after emergency catering teams arrived on Sunday afternoon.
Pay It Forward has offered accommodation for pets.

John Cook Real Estate has made the Alarmed Self Storage units in Forest Road available for anyone needing storage for vehicles and machinery including cars, quad bikes, boats and tractors.
Office manager Melissa Casey said people should call the real estate office if they needed storage access.
