Police chased man a kilometre after alleged break and enter

A man who was seen allegedly breaking into a car was refused bail on Friday.

Just before 5am on Friday, Orange police responded to a call about a man who appeared to be breaking into a vehicle on Torulosa Way.

Police responded quickly and he ran from officers, with a foot pursuit continuing through parkland and private yards for about a kilometre before he was arrested.

Police will allege Matthew John Michael, 40, of Bletchington Street also broke into a house on Torulosa Way and stole some property.

He has been charged with stealing from a motor vehicle, break enter and steal, possess house breaking implements and possessing ammunition without holding a licence.  

Police have recovered property that was suspected to have been stolen.
