Acting on information from the public, officers attached to Orana Mid-Western Police District surrounded a premises on Thursday morning, and captured the 37-year-old when he tried to flee.
It is expected Biffin will now be charged with a number of offences inclusive of warrants relating to his escape.
Biffin fled on January 18, a day after being arrested by police in relation to outstanding warrants.
He led police on a wild pursuit from Dubbo down to Mudgee after absconding from the hospital and stealing a vehicle from the nearby Charles Sturt University campus.
More than a dozen police units, including two Polair helicopters, were involved in the pursuit and subsequent foot search, with reports that at one stage Biffin drove the stolen Ford Ranger directly at police vehicles after being cornered in a paddock.
“The pressure has been on this offender since his escape. Police have been constantly attending known locations of associates and relatives and it was only a matter of time before his luck ran out,” Orana Mid-Western Police District commander Superintendent Peter McKenna said.
"I want to thank the community for their support in providing information to police about not only this matter, but other crimes and suspicious behaviour.
“We certainly rely on the community for assistance in doing our job and would not have the success we have without them."
It is anticipated Biffin will be bail refused by police on Thursday
