Working under Epilepsy Action Australia, Annabel Grant started three weeks ago and will meet clients each Tuesday morning.

Mrs Grant said she will help people with epilepsy and their family with issues from medical to social but she also hopes to run community and school education sessions to help people overcome the stigma and know what to do if someone near them has a seizure. 

The head of the Orange Epilepsy Support Group Bec Alpen said the group campaigned for funding after it saw the support and difference that the Parkinson’s disease nurse made to those with Parkinson’s.

She said the group felt that a support nurse would be very useful in the Central West to help those people living with epilepsy and caring for someone with epilepsy to have a similar support network.

There are about 250,000 people in Australia currently living with epilepsy.
