The event was attended by nearly 120 people including Orange City councillors, health professionals referrers and Probus groups.
Cherrywood Grove facility manager Suzie Gardner said with demand for aged care increasing as the population gets older, so did the need for specialist care.
“As you can imagine a lot of people would ideally like to stay in their own homes, so we make the facility as homely as possible,” she said.
She also said making sure residents were independent was crucial to aged care, and staff at the facility had received education for helping treat dementia.
Deputy mayor of Orange Joanne McRae said the dinner was a “fantastic event.”
It not only bought the community together, but is also allowed attendees to take part in an important conversation around ageing and aged care,” she said.
