In recognition, the Desi Aussies of Orange will perform at the Cook Park Australia Day celebrations, and Desi president Vijay Bohra said the dancers were excited to celebrate on stage.
“Being Australia Day and our national day is very good for us and we’re very pumped up,” he said.
“In India, there are events but we we watch them here on Indian channels so we do have that feeling that keeps us there and that keeps us connected to the country.
“Working together with Australia Day is an honour.”
Australia Day Committee chairwoman Katherine Tollner said the the day would be “a celebration of all that’s wonderful in Orange”.
