Flannery claimed the men’s scratch title ahead of Osborne in second while Downey claimed the women’s handicap bronze medal, once again proving the incredible junior and senior talent that’s based in the colour city at the moment.
Flannery consistently bowled 200-plus games to finish with a total pinfall of 2306 at an average of 230, also rolling a series-best 279, to claim the title by a whopping 239 pins from Osborne (2067 at 206).
Tenpin City’s Simon Millman ran third with 2052 at an average of 205.
Downey, the lowest marker with a handicap of 360, wasn’t far off gold. She topped the raw scores in the women’s handicap division with 1774 to finish with 2134 overall.
She was just eight pins behind second-placed Judy West (1772/420 – 2142) and another 45 behind winner Jasmine Hall, who rolled 1647 with a handicap of 540, to finish with 2187.
Josh Mardel (2026/270 – 2296) won the men’s handicap, while Tamika Spooner won the women’s scratch with 1869 at 186, and a highest game of 237, from Caitlin Osborne (1476 at 147).
The competition continues to grow with every edition and Orange Tenpin Bowl’s Jason Brown said he couldn’t be happier with last weekend’s tournament, and where it looks to be headed.
“We had a record turn out this year for the championships, which is getting bigger and bigger each year,” Orange Tenpin Bowl’s Jason Brown said.
“We had bowlers come from all over NSW as well as bowlers from Melbourne and Canberra.”
