While Orange isn’t copping it as badly as Dubbo or Forbes, the heat will still be getting to pets great and small.
If you’ve got a special someone lying on the floor, panting away, there are a few easy steps to take to lending them a helping paw.
According to the RSPCA, the two most important things to provide for a pet is fresh water and shade, with adding blocks of ice a good way of helping them cool off.
The RSPCA also advises animals living in a cage, such as birds, rabbits, hamsters and guinea pigs, also need to be monitored to ensure they are out of the sun and coping with the heat.
Short nosed dogs such as pugs also struggle in the heat, with a higher chance of heatstroke.
Clam-shell pools, wet blankets, wet towels and frozen iceblocks are also good ways to cool pets down, especially dogs.
Monitoring pets for signs of dehydration and heatstroke such as disorientation and confusion is also recommended.
The temperature is expected to hit 35 degrees on Sunday and Monday and 32 on Tuesday and Wednesday.
