Dyson was at Waratahs Sportsground as a part of Shaun Brown’s Cricket Coaching and has been visiting other rural places across NSW and Victoria.

He offered his advice to young, budding cricketers. 

“I say to them, pick their favourite player, learn the basic skills and take that favourite player and watch what they do and copy them,” he said.

“If you pick Steve Smith, you might not turn out like him but you might be better than him one day.”

Dyson said he’s enjoyed seeing all the talent that is on display in rural areas.

“What I’ve seen is all the places, that kids all across the countryside have definite talent,” he said.

“You see kids with talent and it’s all about how much passion they have to play cricket.

“The message they get all round, the important thing they need to do is keep going and never give up.”

Dyson was also ecstatic about Australia 4-0 series win over in England in the Ashes.

“An excellent win and having played in a couple of Ashes series and one in England, which we lost, I love seeing England being beaten,” he said.

“We’ve got to be a little careful there. When we go to England and play under their conditions, we see a totally different England team.

“What I would love to see is a follow up, in England, and the score is 4-0.”
