Ricky John Davis, 37, of Rankin Street, Bathurst had his driver’s licence disqualified for three months and was fined $330.
Magistrate David Day said Davis had a bad driving record but had no offences in “six and a bit years”.
“He’s not a kid, he’s on the wrong side of 30, he should know the difference,” Mr Day said.
Davis was driving a Toyota ute along Burrendong Way at 11.20am on August 29, when police stopped him for a drug and alcohol test.
He passed the alcohol test but was arrested and taken back to Orange Police Station for drug analysis after failing the drug test.
Woman given ultimatum
Methamphetamine and cannabis were found in a woman’s system after she was drug tested in Spring Street on September 15.
Megan Lewry, 40, of Oxley Place, was charged with driving with illicit drugs in her system.
Last Monday, she represented herself in Orange Local Court where her driver’s licence was disqualified for three months and she was convicted without further penalty.
Lewry had been driving along Spring Street at 2.40pm when she was stopped for a drug and alcohol test.
Magistrate David Day said cannabis can be detected for up to 42 days and there is a common misconception that if a person consumed methamphetamine one day, the next day it is out of their system.
“It seems to me that if you want to do drugs, particularly drugs that are easily detected, then you cannot drive, it’s up to you,” he said.
