Centre management have confirmed wiring has been completed earlier than expected, and the Return and Earn is now open for use.
Work was still underway at lunchtime on Monday, and workers said they expected the wiring to be finished and the point operational by 9am on Tuesday morning.
The controversial project has been subject to much debate after it was announced, with the lack of a Return and Earn collection point a source of anger for some in the community.
The reverse vending machine began installation last week at the North Orange Shopping Centre car park after it arrived last Sunday night.
Last Friday, Knight Frank facilities manager Paul French said only the wiring needed to be completed, with the plan to open the facility on Monday.
