The cross-country rivalry between Australia and New Zealand was given a break during the week when players from a Central West cricket team took pity on their international rivals in searing summer heat.

A group of year 10 and 12 cricketers from Wakatipu High School (SHS) in the the South Island of New Zealand were having a tough time battling the summer conditions during a warm-up game.
Competing against cricketers in Orange and the Central West the trip is part of a Western NSW carnival.
Playing in Bathurst on Friday, the New Zealand based team found it tough batting first with a different wicket to what they were used to in New Zealand.
The different wicket took adjusting to as did the 37 degree heat.
However, the Bathurst side gave the WHS team a chance to get used to the weather and field conditions and offered to bowl a second session to give the New Zealanders more time at the crease and improvements were made.
The first official game of the tour will take place at Jack Brabham Park in Orange on Monday and on Tuesday they will play at Glenroi Oval.
