The 34-year-old worked closely with the Western Sydney boss when the pair were with Adelaide United.
Carrusca joined City at the start of this season and rarely figured in a midfield in which coach Warren Joyce has preferred the steel of Michael Jakobsen, Osama Malik and Luke Brattan to the silk of the veteran Carrusca.
Carrusca has more than 100 appearances in the A-League to his name, scoring 25 goals. He replaces Abraham Majok in the Wanderers squad for their game against Wellington.
