Raceday manager Damien Moloney said a six-race card would be run.
Moloney said the race times were still to be determined but it was expected the first event would be run about 1.30pm.
The picnics, which are always popular with racegoers, are an opportunity for the lesser horses to shine.
Moloney said that while one race currently had only four nominations he expected good fields for all six races.
He said there should be at least seven runners in each race.
“They’ll all be country trainers,” he said.
“That’s what picnic races are all about.”
Orange trainer Michael Plummer has nominated Captain Byblos in race two, a Class B handicap over 1000 metres.
Administration manager Bree McMinn said the gates would open at noon.
McMinn said the picnics were on par with the Orange Gold Cup meeting for interest – even though there was no TAB betting on the picnics.
“I’ve got a lot of pre-sold tickets from people from out of the region, from Sydney and Newcastle” she said.
