February 9: Oh my cod! One Crookwell resident was grinning from ear to ear after he caught a monstrous Murray Cod at Wyangala Dam. The fish measured 121 centimetres and a few snaps were taken before it was returned to the water.
February 10: Councillor Glenn Taylor urged council to close the Northern Distributor Road to send a message to the state government and to allow for vital repairs to the road to occur.
February 10: Despite being in the heart of an area deemed to be at ‘catastrophic’ risk from bushfire, Orange was lucky to avoid tragedy as small areas around Cumnock were evacuated due to bushfires.
February 12: For the first time in four decades - the mercury in Orange cracked 40 degrees Celsius. The heatwave making Orange uncomfortable stretched across the state re-setting temperature records across the Central West.

February 13: A deliberately lit grass fire engulfs a car yard on William Street, causing thousands of dollars in damage and destroying 40 cars. Around 240 animals were evacuated from the RSPCA Orange shelter located next door. The following day a 13-year-old boy was charged with starting the fire.
February 14: Founder of the Pay it Forward Community Shed Karlie Irwin is presented with the Local Woman of the Year Award by Member for Orange Phil Donato for her efforts in starting her own charity.
February 15: NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian confirmed the proposed local government mergers were off, with mixed reactions across the Orange, Blayney and Cabonne shires.
February 17: Orange City Council announced a full-scale review of their hydrants and water supplies following the devastating fire in William Street.
February 18: A historic property in Sale Street is tipped to sell for more than $1 million when it goes up for auction. Tynenside was originally built in 1899 and it’s the first time the house is up for sale in 45 years.
February 18: Seven months after the Orange Rest Centre closed, Fusion Central West has taken up the mantle of the centre in the Uniting Church.
February 18: The owner of JG Auto Sales, John Grum, calls for an investigation into the fire which destroyed much his stock the week before. “Someone other than council needs to investigate,” Mr Grum said.
February 20: From cars worth $1 million to a one-in-a-million car, over 5000 car fans flocked to Sir Jack Brabham Park for the annual Gnoo Blas Classic Car Show.
February 20: Police say a Ford Ranger which stopped for roadworks was hit from behind by a semi-trailer north of Molong. A 37-year-old Sydney man is being taken to Orange hospital in a critical condition, while the truck driver was not injured.
February 21: The Supreme Court of NSW held its first sitting in Orange drawing some of the state’s most senior people in the legal fraternity.
Feburary 22: Rural residents in eastern Cabonne Council call for a meeting to hear about the potential for the boundary to be adjusted so they can be included in Orange.
February 24: They’re just the cutest! The Central Western Daily visited the city’s schools to photograph kindergarten students embarking on their first big steps into the world as they start ‘big school’.
February 26: Three years of hard work paid off for La Bella Advanced Skin and Laser to be named the Banjo Business of the Year. Co-owner Rebecca Miller said the secret was seeking help from a business coach to train her staff.
