There is still a wait for students to find their ATAR ranks on Friday morning, which will tell them if their scores are high enough for tertiary placement.
Canobolas Rural Technology High School student Ellena Hicks said she it was good to get results out of the way.
“I’m really happy with how I went, I ended up getting higher marks than I expected for some of my subjects like English, music and music extension,” she said.
She is hoping to go to Monash University to do a double degree in music and science.
James Sheahan Catholic High School’s Mary Munro had an incredible five subjects in the top band of results.
“It’s been a very stressful year so I’m glad it’s all over,” she said.
“Last night I did not sleep at all, but this morning when the texts came in there was just a huge wave of relief coming over me, I was over the moon.”
She’s been accepted into a bachelor of teaching at Charles Sturt University in Bathurst.
Her classmate Brendan Geoghegan said he was happy with his results, but he’s already starting to move on.
He is hoping to get into a law course at Macquarie University and is hoping he’ll make the 96 ATAR required.
Georgia Balcomb from Orange Anglican Grammar School was “pretty happy” with her results, receiving some of the top scores in maths and music.
“I want to become a pilot – I had a friend whose brother is a pilot and it seems like a glamorous life so might as well try.”
The course for becoming a pilot is at Swinbourne University in Melbourne, but she’s more than happy to make the move.
Gabrielle Lloyd finished at Orange High School (OHS) this year and said she was “very excited” by her results.
She is planning to take a primary teaching course next year.
Canobolas student Cameron Bennett was also happy with his results, but said the text message sent to students was confusing.
“It was a whole bunch of numbers so I didn’t know what I was looking for, but I did alright in all of them,” he said.
He’s planning on taking a year off to relax and work, and was considering travelling abroad.
