Both are balancing a hectic WNBL schedule with raising a baby, but Canberra's family-first mantra has seen the baby boys become a part of the team.

United States import Bass faced another huge test of life on the road with a baby when her son Braven was hospitalised, forcing her to miss Canberra's clash with Perth last week.

But she hasn't missed a beat in her return to the court, which continues against the Dandenong Rangers at Dandenong Stadium on Saturday night.

Braven can often be seen on the court after a Capitals game, high-fiving the players alongside Hurst's five-month-old son Nash.

Hurst says she and Bass both have 11 teammates moonlighting as baby-sitters waiting in the wings when things get tough.

"They're definitely a part of our team and [coach Paul Goriss] encourages us to have them around," Hurst said.

"I think they keep things light when things are tough. A baby always helps - a smiling baby - and we've got two, so I think this team is pretty lucky to have those two guys around."

Canberra's second-worst losing streak in club history was extended to 13 games in a controversial 73-67 loss to the Sydney Flames on Thursday night.

It left Hurst wishing she had "a spare $5000" before exiting the post-match press conference after one question with frustration boiling over.

"I wear it a lot, the losses hurt a lot, and they hurt even more with the more losses that we have," Hurst said.

"[On Thursday] I think it all came to a head. But I look in the crowd after the game and there's Nash. He's smiling at me, he's happy.

"He doesn't care right now whether mum's team wins or loses, as long as he sees me and I can give him a big hug.

"It obviously takes a lot of stress off me when I go home and I have [wife] Tara and Nash to focus on. I feel very lucky, especially when things are tough here with the Caps."
