Highly Desired won’t contest the seven-race meeting after being scratched but the Warwick Farm trainer and champion jockey will still have two shots at success together. Their record at Bathurst has been documented, they’ve combined for 13 wins this season, while the duo scored a victory together at Orange last month.
On Tuesday, they will team up with first-starter Zafox in the Maiden Plate (1280m).
Going from barrier six, Zafox heads into his debut meeting after three trials, the latest of those being a third-placed finish at Rosehill.
Baker and Ryan’s other chance is the promising Classy Hussy, who won on debut at Cessnock in her only previous start.
Ryan’s afternoon and six rides at Orange is rounded out with a ride on Lucky Elixir, from the Dubbo stables of Michael Mulholland.
