There were 270 entries across 26 different breeds at the Mid-State Budgerigar Club’s annual show at Orange Showgrounds.
Some exhibitors brought up to 25 birds to the show, with Gilgandra’s Wayne Altmann claiming the coveted grand champion prize.
“It’s a major show, if you win a grand championship here, you deserve it,” Mr Altmann said.
Mr Altmann said some of the birds on show were among the best in the state.
Senior panel judge Craig Buckingham said the best birds were determined by style, feather, outline and features.
Mr Buckingham said the Mid-State Budgerigar Club show was one of the strongest shows off the year.
