But residents are enjoying a new silence as work crews this week cut off the dip as part of work in Kite Street.
The partly-finished works have re-opened to traffic after crews put a temporary circular pipe in place and re-built the road over it.
Once the gravel and concrete hardeners have firmed up a trench will be cut, the pipe removed and concrete culverts will be added before the road is re-sealed.
Concrete pedestrian platforms will be added for a new look to the intersection.
And they can take the ‘Dip’ sign down.
