Jessica Maree Field, who was represented by solicitor Neil Jones, was convicted and fined $400 in Orange Local Court for driving a Mitsubishi Lancer on Cobra Street, Dubbo despite her licence being expired.
Magistrate Mark Shepherd also fined her $400 for possessing 0.39 grams of cannabis leaf and said Field was disorganised when it came to checking if she had a licence.
According to police facts, Field was driving on Fitzroy Street, Dubbo on April 24 at noon.
Police stopped her in Cobra Street and spoke to her about driving with an expired licence.
The report said Field told the officers that she didn’t know her licence had expired and while she was speaking with them her hands were shaking and she appeared nervous so they decided to search her.
During the search the police found cannabis in her vest pocket.
Drug driving
Magistrate Mark Shepherd fined Rouben Elder Brown, 46, of Anson Street, $600 and disqualified him from driving for four months last Monday.
“Your driving record isn’t that flash,” Mr Shepherd said.
Brown represented himself when he was sentenced in Orange Local Court after pleading guilty to driving with cannabis in his system.
He was caught with the drugs in his system at 10.50pm on July 19 after he had been stopped for a random breath and drug test while driving a silver Hyundai on Bathurst Road.
According to police facts, Brown told the police he had taken the cannabis as relief for an injured hand.
