The Keegan Harding-led Men’s Open side will look to improve on last year’s campaign in Mudgee, while COTA is also sending a Men’s Masters side and a Mixed 40s squad.
It won’t be easy though, Dubbo Touch Association president Neil Webster is expecting some of the country’s best will be in action – by that, he means Australian representatives.
Having Australian players out here doesn’t happen very often,” Webster said.
“There’s going to be some great touch players in a lot of age groups but certainly the marquee games will be the the male ad female opens, they’ll be great to watch.”
Harding’s side opens its preliminary campaign against the Wollongong Devils before facing Newcastle City Knights, Dubbo Devils, Quirindi Grasshoppers, Doyalson Dragons and the Albion Park Eagles in its bid for a championship win.
The Thunder’s Men’s Masters side has been locked into pool A of its competition and will face the Wagga Wagga Vipers, Newcastle City and the Nelson Bay Neptunes before the finals.
The tournament starts at 8am on Saturday.
