With a huge crowd at East Orange Public School to peruse the 200 stalls organiser Belinda Drane said they were constantly seeking extra elements to add variety.
“We’ve had various demonstrations from martial artists and belly dancers,” she said.
“The P and C [Parents and Citizens] were selling showbags this year for the first time.”
Ms Drane said it was her second year as the markets manager.
“Last year we raised over $15,000 and we are trying to top that.
“We’re hoping to get $20,000 this year.”
It’s the school’s biggest fundraising day of the year.
Money raised last year had gone towards improving play equipment at the Spring Street school while money from previous years had helped the construction of the school’s student garden.
Ms Drane said that while there a number of projects for work needing to be done at the school it had not yet been decided where proceeds from the 2017 markets would be spent.
While big crowds flocked to the school for the markets it was a long day for Ms Drane and fellow organisers.
“I was here at 5am, I won’t be leaving until about 8pm,” she said.
This year’s stalls ranged from arts and crafts to food and drink.
