BWS, which is part of Woolworths, has rolled out the Quick Service Delivery in Sydney.
Orange’s only BWS store is at the North Orange shopping centre.
The faster service allows customers to receive their order within an hour, meaning they don’t have to stop at the bottle shop on the way home.
BWS’ website says “delivery is currently being rolled out across Australia. We are working on delivery to Orange.”
A BWS spokeswoman wasn’t able to confirm when the service would be available in Orange.
Delivery costs $10 or is free for orders over $100.
The delivery service is different to click and collect which allows customers to order and then pick up their alcohol at the store.
Orange’s Dan Murphy’s store, owned by Woolworths, only offers home delivery within seven days for regional areas.
After learning of the potential for faster home alcohol delivery, a Western NSW Local Health District spokeswoman said alcohol consumption was a serious health concern.
“Alcohol remains the biggest substance use issue across our district,” she said.
“Drinking less frequently and drinking less on each occasion, reduces the lifetime risk of alcohol-related harm.”
She said the government’s alcohol consumption guidelines recommended no more than two standard drinks a day and no more than four on any single occasion.
The spokeswoman said if people needed help they could use the drug and alcohol helpline on 1300 887 000.
