Cowra hosts Orange and travels to Parkes on Saturday and Sunday respectively, a weekend which looms as an “interesting” two days of action considering most players haven’t started their seasons.

The make-up of Cowra’s side remains relatively familiar to 2016, which gives Berry confidence leading into rounds one and two.

“The core of the team is the same as last season which is a benefit for the style of game we want to play,” Berry said before talking about the style he wants to see Cowra play.

“Very similar to last season. We played a simple style of cricket, build pressure and do the simple things right over a long period of time.”

Noting last season’s triumph over Orange and a long rivalry with Parkes, Berry says getting results this weekend is key to his side’s success in the competition.

Rather than identifying any star players – despite the likes of Western Zone representatives himself, Tim Berry, Jacob McNaught and Mick Curtale in his line-up – Berry hopes to see everyone play a part.

“These two games mean a lot if we’re serious about competing which we are. With only four games you don’t want to lose too many,” he said.

“We’re interested in winning. Success comes from the team contributing,” he said.

Cowra has a bye in round three before facing Bathurst in round four on December 3 then playing Dubbo at Dubbo on January 14.

Saturday’s game starts at 10am at Twigg.
