They're names you’d expect to see take out a stack of awards at Orange CYMS’ presentation night last Friday night at the Canobolas Hotel.

And all three premier league guns did just that.

But it’s the club’s leading ladies that somewhat, deservedly, stole the show.

Charli King won the Des Morrisey Award (the president’s award), league tag skipper Teiya Thornberry took home the COBRA gong and Mandy Moore was crowned the club’s lady of league for 2017.

Thornberry is the first female winner of the COBRA, which is the CYMS Old Boys Recognition Award, while both King and Moore have been involved with the CYMS club for a number of years.

Green and golds vice president Anton Logan said the club wouldn’t be in the position it is now if it weren’t for the contribution of all of the CYMS’ ladies that put into the club.

“They were successful on Friday night, no surprise there. They’re integral for the club,” Logan said.

“It’s outstanding. Charli, Mandy, Teiya, they’re all in the same basket. We couldn’t do without them.”

Of the club’s other major awards, Dom Maley was crowned the club’s most consistent player, Sam Hill CYMS’ most valuable and Josh Piper won the Desi, which is for passion loyalty and commitment to CYMS. 

Geoff Woodhouse won the clubperson of the year while Liam Kennedy and Mitch Collins shared the CYMS junior clubperson award. Trainer James Muller won the club’s coaches award.

And boom prop Joey Duffy took home the rookie of the year gong.

“Hopefully it’s a sign of things to come for Joey. Like Cam (Jones) and Bryce (Jones) have done in previous years, he’s had the chance to learn off Ozzie and come on in leaps bounds since Bam came to the club,” Logan added.

Bamford took out the premier league best and fairest, while Adam Stanford (first division), Tyronne Harrison (under 18s) and Alicia Earsman (league tag) won the other best and fairest awards.
