How about taking a huge plunge and start a business retailing ’50s rockabilly fashion?
Rockabilly fan Georgina Keukenmeester has done just that, opening Orange’s newest shop Miss Georgie Loulou’s, in a cute space in the Orange Arcade.
“I just love it,” she said.
“I am passionate about it.”
She said there was a gap in the Orange market for this clothing.
“Generally if you want to buy the fashions you have to go online or drive elsewhere.”
Mrs Keukenmeester said she chose the Centrepoint Arcade for its uniqueness.
“I love the shopfront, I think it is pretty cool.
“Most of the shops here are destination shops so if people want to shop here they will find it.”
She said it was her first business venture and though she was “terrified” about how it would go she won’t be going back to an office.
“I couldn’t stand the thought of sitting in an office again so I thought I would do something that I was passionate about.”
LESSONS FOR ENERGY SUPPLIERS IN SOLAR TECHNOLOGY
ORANGE energy suppliers and installers were shown a new lightweight solar panel for residential and commercial use at a training day.
Sonepar Pacific Solar and Solutions state manager Jorge Gonzalez said he brought representatives of manufacturers and suppliers to the region for the first time.
“They have always had to travel to Sydney before,” he said.
Mr Gonzalez said the E-Arch panel was designed for roofs that could not carry the weight of conventional glass solar panels.
Local representatives who attended included Mal Wilson from Orange Laser Electrical, Robert Biviano from Central West Solar and Thomas Bell from Energus.
BUSINESSWOMEN WELL SUPPORTED BY LUNCHEON
THE Orange CWA are ensuring support is there for women in business in Orange.
Hosting a networking lunch on Thursday, Orange branch president Elizabeth Lynch said it was important to support businesswomen.
“Especially when that business adds to the financial security of a household,” she said.
“These meetings are a really good chance for women to network.”
