Announcer at Caltex Park tries to save the day after a technical mishap

With technical difficulties preventing playing the anthem over the loudspeaker at Caltex Park in Dubbo on Sunday, the announcer decided he would lead a communal singing with the fans at Caltex Park.

There was only one problem – three lines into the anthem, it was obvious announcer didn’t know all the words.

After several stumbles, including a memorable “home abounds of faithful streams” they eventually got through the first verse and let the game start, to rancous applause from the crowd.

Well deserved applause, too, for sticking his hand up and giving it a shot, despite obvious lack of experience and, it has to be said, a natural gift for singing.
