For St Pat’s it’s a chance to become the first ever three-time winners of the competition, and move clear of cross-city rivals Bathurst Panthers in the premiership count in the process.

On the Hawks’ side it’s the chance to provide the club just its fifth ever premiership across all grades.

Recent results suggest the last game of the year will keep spectators on the edge of their seats.

Up until the major semi-final Hawks were in with a chance of completing an unblemished season.

Saints put a stop to that with a 20-10 result, booking the first grand final spot in the process.

Hawks’ 12-6 preliminary final win over Panthers prevented an all-Bathurst decider.

St Pat’s coach Mick Armstrong expects his team’s major semi-final win over the Hawks to motivate the Orange club.

“We put in a great performance last time against them so I’m hoping we can put in another one. They’re a quality team though. Our win against them will fire them up,” he said.

“I think we’re getting things together at the right time of the season. We’ve had injuries and people away through the year but with our last two games – against Panthers and Hawks – we’ve got everything right.

“Hawks are unpredictable and just play what’s in front of them. With Ella [Harris] at dummy half and Bec Ford’s kicking game they’re very dangerous.

“Bathurst has enjoyed a lot of league tag success but teams like Hawks, Blayney and CYMS are very strong.

“Every team is building up. I went back and had a look at the 2015 grand final and the standard from all the girls has improved massively in such a short time.”
