The masterclass focused on Australia’s best teaching practices in the Vocational Education Training (VET) environment.
“It was very beneficial to learn from an Australian lecturer and get a first-hand look at what Australian classes would look like,” participant Kim Moon Jung said.
“Due to the lecturer’s passionate and upbeat approach, I really enjoyed the whole week. I feel sad that it’s over,” added Hwang Byung who attended the masterclass.
Ms Pennisi is the first TAFE NSW teacher from the central west to deliver a masterclass in Korea.
She said the classes looked at competency-based approaches, principles of assessment, rules of evidence and the assessor role within VET.
“The trip was a huge success, in terms of achieving the masterclass program objectives,” she said.
“On a personal level because it was great for my professional development.
“Participants really liked the fact that Australia and Korea have similar challenges in compliance and assessment practices.
“They also learnt a lot of things that could easily be implemented into their VET teaching practices.
“The Korean VET sector is undergoing huge changes so this program’s timing was perfect. It provided them with some important ideas to consider.”
