A week has gone by and all the candidates for the upcoming election have had a chance to respond with their policy on this matter.
I have since been told rates in the CBD have had an even larger increase, resulting in rent increases of up to 10 per cent or more, but the response from candidates has been a deafening silence.
This affects every man, woman and child living in the electorate, as prices increase to cover this.
All 88 people claim to want to represent us at this election, but 87 people have not been heard from on this matter.
Who is the odd one out? I’ll tell you: councillor Kevin Duffy.
He was the only person who contacted me with a policy on rates, and also had it in the paper for all to see.
If the other 87 can’t be bother to campaign for this election and let the voters know their policies what chance have we got if they are elected on September 9?
Remember: they’re the ones who are going to make the decisions on shaping the city going forward.
We might need some help if that’s the case.
Regards,
