What did you want to be when you were little? I was interested in landscape gardening or agriculture and it is quite interesting as I have found 45 hectares to landscape.
Where do you work now and how long have you been there? Cargo Road Winery. I’ve been here for 20 years.
Job title: Vigneron [grape grower, wine maker].
Job description: Seven days a week involved in grape production, wine production, sales, marketing, HR, landscaping and property development.
What other jobs have you had? Agriculture, overseer on a sheep and cattle property, oats and lucerne.
What training have you done? I went to Orange Agricultural College and did farm management. I paid attention, asked questions at the appropriate time and sucked in a lot of knowledge.
What is the best thing about your job? Every hour, every day is different. Lots of variety.
What is the worst thing about your job? Nothing.
What advice would you give someone interested in this job as a career? Get as much experience as you can. Relax and learn. There are some good teachers out there.
